Subwavelength acoustic energy harvesting via topological interface states in 1D Helmholtz resonator arrays

چکیده

We have theoretically and experimentally demonstrated subwavelength acoustic energy harvesting via topological interface states in 1D Helmholtz resonator arrays. The system can produce two types of bandgaps the realm due to resonance band folding mechanism, respectively. Through analyses Zak phase eigenfield distributions, properties band-folding-induced gaps be changed by tuning lattice structural parameters, while those resonant maintain stability. When different arrays are spliced together, will appear but do not exist gaps. experimental measurements agree well with theoretical prediction. Our study expands applicability insulators a compacted platform.

Acoustic Energy Harvesting Using Helmholtz Resonator with Tapered Neck

In acoustic energy, harvesting energy is captured from external noise sources, controlled and stored for various applications. Despite the prevalence of acoustic energy a major challenge of energy harvesting is the low power density. Acoustic Energy Harvester consists of a resonator, an acoustic transducer and a storage device. When acoustic resonator is excited by an incident wave at its reson...

Split-Ring Resonator Arrays for Electromagnetic Energy Harvesting

By virtue of their ability to resonate at a wavelength much larger than the maximum dimension, Split-Ring Resonator (SRR) cells can be densely stacked to create energy harvesting arrays having per-unit-area power efficiency higher than a single SRR cell. While the concept of using metamaterial particles for electromagnetic energy harvesting had been demonstrated in our earlier work, the overall...

Low frequency acoustic energy harvesting using PZT piezoelectric plates in a straight tube resonator

A novel and practical acoustic energy harvesting mechanism to harvest traveling sound at low audible frequency is introduced and studied both experimentally and numerically. The acoustic energy harvester in this study contains a quarter-wavelength straight tube resonator with lead zirconate titanate (PZT) piezoelectric cantilever plates placed inside the tube. When the tube resonator is excited...

Topological Pumping of Photons in Nonlinear Resonator Arrays.

We show how to implement topological or Thouless pumping of interacting photons in one-dimensional nonlinear resonator arrays by simply modulating the frequency of the resonators periodically in space and time. The interplay between the interactions and the adiabatic modulations enables robust transport of Fock states with few photons per site. We analyze the transport mechanism via an effectiv...

A Smart Helmholtz Resonator

Helmholtz resonators are commonly used for tuning of acoustic systems such as industrial processes, vehicle exhaust, engine intake manifold systems and more. Past efforts resulted in limited tuning capability and significant mechanical complexity. The work presented here considers a system that modifies the acoustic response of a system continuously, online, allowing optimum performance over a ...
